This is my baby project that is being created as we move along. Most of it is a result of the notes I jot down for my students, some of it are random thoughts and some comes directly for the books I read.

A couple of words about me: I am a GenX-er, I am a social scientist, I hold a PhD in Sociology from Iowa State, I've been teaching sociology since 2003, first - as a grad student, and later as a prof. Although in my current line of work I do mostly research, I do enjoy teaching an occasional class. Lately, I've been teaching a full semester course of Social Class online.

The difficulty of having such a vast and controversial course in such a constrained medium prompted the idea of this blog. I am hoping to post regularly until mid May. The current goal is to keep track of the readings my students are doing and write reading summaries that help clarify the ideas or address some concerns that pop-up in the forums. We'll see what transpires.
